General Survey Conditions

Ÿ         Arrange to present a clean, shipshape boat, and have all papers and miscellaneous gear ready.  If applicable, make arrangements with the marina/boat yard to haul the vessel for bottom inspection, and a captain for sea trial.  The surveyor may request minor dismantling of interior ceilings, headliners, flooring, etc. in order to gain access to suspected areas.  Random inspection of fasteners on wood boats below waterline could be conducted to determine condition.  Any dismantling and reinstallation of these parts should be performed by qualified personnel, which is the responsibility of the person ordering the survey.  WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION FROM THE OWNER MAY BE NEEDED TO BOARD AND/OR REMOVE ANY PART OF THE VESSEL.

Ÿ         Rates assume the Sea Trial will be conducted at the time and date of the survey - if not, terms will be negotiated if additional time and travel are required.

Ÿ         Equipment is tested at the discretion of this Surveyor if no Sea Trial is conducted.

Ÿ         Spars and rigging on sailboats are surveyed from the deck level only. A complete inspection aloft conducted by a qualified rigger is recommended on all sailing vessels that have not had a recent survey, if racing, or if blue water cruising.

Ÿ         Recommended that propulsion engines and auxiliary engines be surveyed by a qualified engine surveyor.

Ÿ         Recommended that all vessels be hauled-out for bottom and running gear inspection if the wetted surface has not been inspected recently.

Ÿ         ALL BOATYARD CHARGES FOR HAULING, PRESSURE WASHING, DESTRUCTIVE TESTING AND ANY AFFILIATED SERVICES ARE NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THIS SURVEYOR.
